March 2026 Racing Summary

March proved to be a solid and productive month for the Mick Appleby team, with the yard continuing to deliver consistent all-weather success as we moved through the late winter period.

Despite March traditionally being a transitional month between the all-weather season and the return of the turf campaign, the stable maintained strong momentum with two winners, both achieved through smart placing and horses well suited to their conditions.

March Winners

Juan Les Pins
Winner – Newcastle (All-Weather)
19 March 2026 | 5f | Class 4 Handicap

Juan Les Pins delivered a strong late challenge to secure victory in a competitive sprint at Newcastle. Produced with excellent timing, he showed both speed and determination to take the lead inside the final furlong and stay on well to the line. A textbook all-weather performance and another example of the yard’s strength with sprinters.

Counsel
Winner – Wolverhampton (All-Weather)
24 March 2026 | 5f | Class 4

Counsel followed up with a professional front-running display, making full use of his early pace around Wolverhampton. Setting the tempo from the outset, he showed great composure to repel challengers and record a well-deserved success.

Looking Ahead

March’s results provided a firm platform heading into April, with several horses shaping as progressive performers as the focus begins to shift towards early-season turf opportunities and higher-value races.

As always, thank you to all our owners for your continued support — every winner is a team effort, and we look forward to sharing many more highlights as the season develops.
